Nelson Ricardo Martins
Artist, curator and manager in the field of contemporary visual arts, currently studying for a PhD in Contemporary Art at the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra. In 2010, he founded Fase 10 Produções Artísticas e Editora (www.fase10.art), an office that operates in organizing exhibitions/performative actions in cultural centers and urban spaces, having carried out, during this period, numerous projects, such as the forthcoming exhibition “The Invention of Time”. Between 2004 and 2008, he played relevant roles in projects developed by the Brazilian government, aimed at the dissemination of contemporary visual arts in all regions of the country, with an emphasis on the coordination and curation of the Rede Nacional Funarte Artes Visuais, a program that implemented exchanges between visual artists, curators, critics, producers, photographers and documentary filmmakers. Working professionally in Portugal since 2019, he was production coordinator of the Anozero’ 21-22 Bienal de Coimbra and carried out numerous artistic projects, among them, the curatorship of the “Viva Brasil” exhibition, which featured the participation of 57 visual artists Brazilians; curatorship of the Anozero Ágora – Liberdade e Fantasia project that promotes the interaction of the Coimbra Bienal with the city; curatorship of the Pajé Jaguar Denilson Baniwa exhibition, at the Colégio das Artes da UC and Sirius Arts Center – Ireland, organized by the Colégio das Artes and the ECO project; idealization of the urban-sound intervention, “A Voz da Floresta”, winner of the 5th edition of the Mimesis Theater and Performing Arts Cycle at the University of Coimbra.
