This photography exhibition reflects on the utopias and ruins of extractive cities in the Brazilian Amazon. These urban zones, created as vehicles for the exploitation of natural resources, are ghostly evocations of the Anthropocene. They show us the future of increasingly larger areas of the Amazon and the world, as human beings continue to privilege rampant extraction that benefits only an elite, to the detriment of the human and more-than-human communities of a given territory. On the other hand, they inspire us to reflect on counter-narratives of abandonment, the strengthening of social and environmental resilience strategies, and possible futures for these cities in the forest.
